For many readers, comic strips are an important part of the daily routine. We read them out loud at breakfast, clip them to share with friends or tape them on a computer when they resonate.

Today, the Courier Journal is announcing some changes to refresh our comic strips lineup starting with the Monday, Jan. 29, publication.

Some of the classic newspaper comic legends including Dennis the Menace, Blondie and Beetle Bailey will remain while others will be new. I hope that you will find some favorites among the new comic offerings.

The newspaper will retain a similar number of comics overall in print.

For clarity here is the complete list of the current strips that will appear in our Sunday lineup: Beetle Bailey, Blondie, Crabgrass, Dennis the Menace, Family Circus, Foxtrot, Garfield, Hagar The Horrible, Jump Start, Peanuts, Pearls Before Swine. Here's what we are adding: Baby Blues, Baldo, Born Loser, Crankshaft, For Better or Worse, Frank & Ernest, Luann, Marmaduke, Non Sequitur, Pickles, Ziggy and Zits.

The daily lineup will include: Beetle Bailey, Blondie, Crabgrass, Crankshaft, Dennis the Menace, Family Circus, Garfield, Hagar The Horrible, Jump Start, Marmadeuke, Peanuts, Pearls Before Swine and Ziggy. The new lineup is part of changes announced last fall by Gannett Corp. Inc., which owns the Courier Journal, in an effort to standardize and modernize its comic page offerings.
