Court docs: Bones found in missing woman's death

Feb. 28—Bone fragments in a Tipton County dumpster, a Tik Tok video identifying a potential killer and a history of alleged abuse are just a few items that investigators believe has tied a Kokomo man to the disappearance and subsequent death of a woman.

John Q. Christy, 39, is facing a single charge of murder for his alleged role in the investigation, and he's being held without bond at the Howard County Jail.

Christy's charge stems from a Kokomo Police Department investigation that began Feb. 11 after the family of 44-year-old Brandi Bradley alerted law enforcement the woman hadn't been seen since Jan. 20.

Bradley had been a roommate of Christy's since last December, according to court documents.

But the relationship between the pair, per those same court documents, was reportedly a rocky one.

"If you see my dismembered body laying all over Kokomo, John Christy."

That was a small part of a video Bradley sent out a few weeks ago via the social media platform TikTok.

It's unclear how long before she went missing the video was posted, but Bradley in that clip indicates a series of alleged abusive behavior by Christy, including what she referred to as being "choked out" at least five times.

A witness who reportedly knew Bradley seemed to verify the woman's allegations, telling police during an interview that "Jonathon has made threats to kill Brandi in the past," court documents indicated.

Christy himself, during an interview earlier this month with law enforcement, stated Bradley and he had reportedly been in a "screaming match" on the night of Jan. 19, a day before Bradley went missing, though he has denied any involvement in the woman's disappearance or death.

In his interview, Christy also alerted police of a Tipton County dumpster he reportedly used to burn "documents" and "carpet" around Jan. 20, though he denied that had anything to do with Bradley.

However, upon search of the dumpster, investigators reportedly located several burned pieces of bone fragments, along with jewelry, a tarp and pieces of red carpet police believe matched the carpet in Bradley's bedroom.

Earlier this week, police received an anonymous tip from two inmates at the Madison County Jail with information on Bradley's disappearance, according to court documents.

One of the inmates told investigators he assisted "a friend" last month in "getting rid" of a missing woman from Howard County, per court records, though the inmate reportedly stated he was threatened into doing so.

That man, the inmate said, was Christy.

And the missing woman, he added, was Bradley.

During his interview with police, the inmate stated he went to Christy's house because he thought he was being asked to do construction work, according to the affidavit.

When Christy opened the door, per the inmate's testimony, the residence smelled like "battery acid," and Bradley's body was reportedly lying in a hallway.

The inmate also told investigators Christy stated he "lost control" and beat Bradley several times with a wrench before placing a plastic bag over her head.

Christy and the man — who again told police he went unwillingly — then allegedly went to the Tipton County residence, dumped Bradley's body into the dumpster then burned the dumpster's contents.

Christy is due in court for an initial hearing at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Howard Superior 2.
