MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (WHNT) — Online court records show a Muscle Shoals woman charged with assault and reckless endangerment shot her boyfriend in the pelvic area on Monday.

78-year-old Bonnie Redden Schean had her initial appearance in a Colbert County courtroom on Tuesday, and a judge set her bond at $100,000. Her case was also bound over to a grand jury.

Court documents filed this week shed more light on what happened leading up to the shooting that occurred around 4 a.m. on Aidan Lane on Monday.

Officers with the Muscle Shoals Police Department (MSPD) responded to a call about an ‘assault with a deadly weapon’ at a home on Aidan Lane. The victim, who an affidavit identifies as Schean’s boyfriend, reportedly came over to the home to check on Schean when she wasn’t feeling well.

The affidavit says the boyfriend lived with another woman, that he stated was a childhood friend, and had to leave to take her to the doctor.

Schean then accused the female of replacing her, the boyfriend told officers. Court documents say he tried to tell her she wasn’t being replaced, but he did have to take his roommate to the doctor which led to an argument.

Her boyfriend followed her as she went to her nightstand and pulled out a revolver, then turned around and fired at his pelvic area, according to the affidavit. It says she fired two more rounds and pointed the gun at his head before he kicked the gun so the next bullet would miss him.

After fighting over possession of the gun, court documents say he was able to dump the casings and an unfired round on the ground before she was able to regain possession of the gun. He then is said to have called 911 while crawling out of the house as Schean walked back to the bedroom.

He sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and police said on Monday that he was expected to make a full recovery.

Court records show Schean was in the bed when police arrived and informed officers the gun was in the nightstand.
