ASHLAND – A year after Tina Goad was shot to death, the man accused of her murder may be closer to resolving his court case.

A change of plea hearing is set for 2 p.m. Jan. 28 in Ashland County Common Pleas Court for Ryan Stroup, according to the court's docket.

Stroup, 31, had previously pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated murder, three counts of kidnapping, two counts of aggravated robbery and other charges tied to Goad's death.

Stroup is accused of shooting Goad, 41, of Mansfield, multiple times and leaving her body in a wooded area before fleeing to a Cleveland motel in January 2021.

Prosecutor Christopher Tunnell had said during court proceedings last year that detectives found the gun on Stroup at the motel, where he was interviewed during the investigation.

Goad was reported missing the day before her body was found off of County Road 1600, after Stroup directed detectives to the wooded location, Tunnell had said.
