“The wanted suspects fled Ukraine, hiding from law enforcement; this court decision allows for their extradition,” the OPG said.

Lavrynovych and Hryshchenko are accused of treason for their efforts in facilitating the illegitimate signing of the Kharkiv Accords in 2010, which extended Russia’s lease on its Black Sea Fleet base in Sevastopol, Crimea, by 25 years. The Kharkiv Accords allowed Moscow to upgrade and expand its military presence on the peninsula, laying the groundwork for its eventual invasion and annexation in 2014.
