The man accused of shooting and robbing popular Bronx rapper Lil Tjay was also shot during the early morning incident at an Edgewater shopping center on Wednesday, a police report said.

The affidavit of probable cause filed by police said the suspect, Mohamed Konate, 27, was found and arrested at a New York City hospital with multiple gunshot wounds after the shooting, which was reported at 12:04 a.m. Police said a suspected "unidentified co-conspirator" fled the scene with the injured Konate in a white BMW and later was captured by surveillance cameras dropping him off in front of Lenox Hill Hospital on the Upper East Side at 12:29 a.m.

A witness said Konate was hit by gunfire and then dragged into the BMW, according to police.

Prosecutors charged Konate, of New York City, with attempted murder, armed robbery and weapons offenses, accusing the man of firing at the rapper, whose real name is Tione Merritt, as well as Jeffrey Valdez, 24, and Antoine Boyd, 22, both of the Bronx, who were with him.

According to the affidavit, one of the victims told police that Konate approached the red Dodge Durango that they were in, pointed a gun at them and demanded that they hand over their jewelry.

Two Nike sneakers were found at the scene, police said, and Konate's footwear was not seized by New York police officers, who seized his clothes at the hospital. Police said mulch found on Konate's clothes was similar to mulch found in a flowerbed in the parking lot where the shootout occurred.

Boyd also suffered a single gunshot wound, and along with Valdez was charged with possessing an unlawful weapon. Both are in custody at Bergen County Jail, prosecutors said.
