Courteney Cox was 'hurt' to be only 'Friends' star not nominated at Emmys

Courteney Cox has said it "hurt her feelings" to be the only Friends cast member not to be nominated at the Emmy Awards.

She played Monica Geller for 10 seasons of the comedy opposite David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Matt Le Blanc and Lisa Kudrow, all of whom were nominated for Emmys at least once over the show's run.

In an interview on The Howard Stern Show alongside Kudrow and Aniston, Cox reflected on how her feelings were hurt at the time as the host asked if not being nominated stuck in her "craw".

"Sure. Yeah, it always hurt my feelings. When every single cast member was nominated but me, it definitely hurt my feelings," she shared.

"I was happy for everybody, and then when it was finally like, 'Oh, I'm the only one?' It hurt."

However, Cox was nominated by another acting awards body in 2010 for her work as Jules on Cougar Town, which she said took the sting out of the situation.

"And then the only thing that made me feel good - because they've all won and they've gotten so many accolades - I got nominated for Cougar Town the first year [out] - a Golden Globe. And I want to say, 'Oh, who cares?' It meant everything to me," she said.

"I wanted my peers to respect me and I know that the Golden Globes is not your peers, necessarily, but it's like, 'Ah!' It took a little of the sting out."

Kudrow and Aniston were the only Friends actors to win an Emmy, with Phoebe Buffy star Kudrow nabbing the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1998 and Aniston taking home the gong in the Lead Actress category in 2002 for her portrayal of Rachel Green.

Cox added that she watched the Emmys the years her co-stars won and that she "wants them to win".
