Courts Watch: Sentences, pleas and other developments in St. Cloud-area criminal cases

Editor's note: This weekly report includes new information about Stearns, Benton and Sherburne county criminal cases covered in the St. Cloud Times.

Yonina Scates Phipps, 47, of St. Cloud, was sentenced July 25 to 90 days in jail, stayed 90 days for one year, for one misdemeanor count of obstructing the legal process. She will be on probation for one year. In another case, one misdemeanor count of theft was dismissed. Judge William Cashman presided on both cases.

Jaime Christopher Balinbin, 49, of St. Cloud, pleaded guilty July 25 to one felony count of violating a no contact order. Balinbin is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 31. Judge Sarah Hennesy presided.

Tanisha Renay Sullivan, also known as Tanisha Renae Sullivan, 26, of Wahkon, was sentenced July 25 to 90 days in jail, stayed 75 days for one year, for one misdemeanor count of violating a domestic abuse no contact order. Sullivan was credited for 15 days served and will be on probation for one year. In another case, Sullivan was sentenced to one year in jail, stayed 355 days for two years, for one gross misdemeanor count of violating a domestic abuse no contact order. Sullivan was credited for 10 days served and will be on probation for two years. The cases will be served concurrently. Judge Mary Mahler presided on both cases.

Kimberly Mickelle Rutherford, 36, of St. Cloud, was sentenced July 27 to 90 days in jail, stayed 88 days for one year, for one misdemeanor count of fifth-degree assault. Rutherford was credited for two days served and will be on probation for one year. Judge Mary Mahler presided.

Robert Francis Hennessy, Jr., 35, of St. Cloud was sentenced July 28 to two years and two months in prison for one felony count of fifth-degree assault. Hennessy was credited for 406 days served. One felony count of fifth-degree assault was dismissed. Judge Mary Mahler presided.

Travis Luke Magney, 37, of St. Cloud, was sentenced July 28 to one year and 11 months in prison for one felony count of motor vehicle theft. Magney was credited for 422 days served. In another case, Magney was sentenced to one year and five months in prison for one felony count of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. He was credited for 424 days served. Magney was also sentenced to one year and 11 months in prison for one felony count of motor vehicle theft. He was credited for 424 days served.

Mohammed Hussein Mohammed, 38, of St. Cloud, was sentenced July 28 to two years and nine months in prison for one felony count of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. He was credited for 223 days served. One felony count of first-degree burglary with assault on a person on the property, one felony count of threats of violence, two gross misdemeanor counts of domestic assault and one gross misdemeanor count of violating a domestic abuse order for protection were dismissed. Judge Sarah Hennesy presided.

Antoine Elijah Williams, 27, of St. Cloud, was sentenced July 28 to 90 days in jail, stayed 47 days for one year, for one misdemeanor count of driving after revocation. Williams was credited for 43 days served and will be on probation for one year. One misdemeanor count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in property damage was dismissed. In another case, Williams was sentenced to one year and one day in prison, stayed for three years, and 43 days in jail for one felony count of fourth-degree assault. He was credited for 43 days served and will be on probation for three years. The cases will be served concurrently. Judge Michael Jesse presided on both cases.

Ezayah Marcell Gomez Oropeza, 21, of St. Cloud, pleaded guilty July 29 to one felony count of third-degree assault. He is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 9.

Ricco Dejon Tyson, 44, of Buffalo was sentenced Aug. 4 to 20 years in prison for one felony count of second-degree murder without intent while committing a felony. Tyson was credited for 605 days served. One felony count of first-degree manslaughter while committing a gross misdemeanor or misdemeanor with violence and one felony count of second-degree manslaughter with culpable negligence creating unreasonable risk were dismissed. Judge Walter Kaminsky presided.
