A Black man shot multiple times, apparently in the back, by police in Wisconsin is awake and alert, according to a family member. (Aug. 25)
ADRIA-JOI WATKINS: I was just flabbergasted. I could not believe it. And when you hear something like that, you don't believe that it's true, you know? It's no-- not mine, not my family member, you know? And then you go and look on the internet and on the news, and you see your family member being shot. And it's-- I'm surprised I didn't break my phone, because I just threw it. I couldn't believe it.
We're just thanking God that he's awake. He is alert and he's been in and out, but he was actually laughing with some nurses last night. So we are just helpful, I mean grateful that he's still with us because we couldn't ask for anything more.
