Covenant Health has announced a partnership to help children, and will host a job fair later this month, according to two news releases.

On Sept. 3, Covenant Children's and Cook Children's partnered with Pediatrix Medical Group and Midland Memorial Hospital to improve NICU services in the Midland/Odessa region.

"The partnership between Cook Children’s and Covenant Children’s has benefitted our patients by providing them with exceptional quality cardiovascular and neurological care," said Dr. Amy Thompson, Covenant Children’s CEO. "Now we have been given the opportunity to expand that partnership by teaming up with Midland Memorial Hospital to provide the highest level of NICU services to families all over West Texas, while keeping them close to home. We are proud to see hospitals across the state coming together to provide the best health care services to Texas kids."

Covenant and Cook's NICUs are Level IV, which is the highest level, while Midland Memorial's is Level II an seeking Level III status.

"We are excited this venture allows us to expand our valued partnership with Cook Children’s and renew our partnership with Covenant Children’s," said Mike Dwyer, M.D., market president for Pediatrix. "For more than 20 years, we have collaborated to provide the highest quality neonatal care for the most vulnerable infants in west Texas. We look forward to extending these services to Midland to ensure families of critically-ill and preterm babies have access to the specialized care they need."

About a week after this partnership was announced, Covenant also issued a release about an upcoming job fair from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the Knipling Education & Conference Center. They are hoping to fill positions in Lubbock, Plainview, and Levelland, including Covenant Medical Center, Covenant Children’s, Grace Clinic and Grace Surgical Hospital, as well as Covenant Medical Group.

Open positions include lab assistants, phlebotomists, medical lab technologists, CT and Ultrasound Tech, LVN, graduate and registered nurses, certified nursing assistant and patient care tech, certified surgical tech, environmental services, certified medical assistants, pediatric respiratory therapist, patient services specialists (access reps), and nurse tech/student nurse aid (must be in an RN program).

"Working in health care provides so many different and incredible opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others," said Chris Shavers, Vice President of Human Resources. "We are making it easier for people to start their career in health care through this one-stop hiring event. Whether it's serving meals to patients or registering a patient at a doctor's office, we'll have lots of entry level position opportunities for people to apply, interview and start their career with Covenant."

Applicants can drop off their resumes, and computers will be available to fill out applications on site. Temperatures will be taken at the door, hand sanitizer will be provided and masks will be required. There will also be restrictions on hom many attendees can be in the fair at one time, according to the release.
