Jun. 2—COVENTRY — The Coventry Farmers' Market opens for the season this Sunday.

This will be the 19th season for the farmers' market, which brings many Connecticut-grown products to Coventry.

The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. rain or shine every Sunday from June through October. It will be held on the grounds of the Nathan Hale Homestead, which is located at 2299 South Street in Coventry.

Vendors for this year's farmers' market include a slew of Connecticut farms.

This includes Cato Corner Farm of Colchester, Colgan Farm of Lebanon and DeLuca Family Farm of East Hartford. Some of the other vendors include Granny's Pie Factory, Hydeville Sugar Shack and the Mystic Cheese Company.

Chet's Italian Ice, a full- service frozen dessert caterer, will also be among the vendors at this year's Coventry Farmers' Market. Chet's offers a variety of Italian ice flavors including traditional favorites such as lemon, strawberry and watermelon. They also offer more obscure Italian ice flavors including tangerine, iced tea and cranberry pomegranate.

The business also sells many different flavors of ice cream, such as vanilla, chocolate, pumpkin pie and black raspberry.

Concetto " Chet" DiMauro founded Chet's Italian Ice in 2007 to provide people in Connecticut with healthy desserts.

"In 2007 I saw the need for healthy frozen desserts since there are very few places outside New York City that had authentic Italian ices," DiMauro said on his business' website. "My love for creating has led me to develop unique combinations like lemon basil, and pear- cardamom ( Italian ice) which are included in the specialty selection menu."

Several food trucks will also be at the Coventry Farmers' Market, including Munchies Food Truck, Lizzie's Curbside and The Whey Station.

The Whey Station of Middletown serves a creative menu of gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and sides.

" We pride ourselves on using only fresh, quality ingredients for our madefrom- scratch recipes," The Whey Station's website says. " We strive to find local and unique accompaniments such as Zapp's Chips from Louisiana and local soda from Avery's in New Britain."
