Coventry High students participate in music festival

Nov. 21—MERIDEN — Three students from the Coventry High School ( CHS) Band participated in the American School Band Director Festival last Monday.

The festival was held at Francis T. Maloney High School in Meriden. Students from 19 schools across Connecticut spent all day rehearsing and performed a concert that evening.

Students rehearsed and performed under the direction of guest conductors.

CHS Senior Brianna Twerdy performed on the flute in the wind ensemble under the direction of CWO Jeffrey Spencer from the U. S. Coast Guard Band.

CHS freshmen, Charles Dunlap on the flute and Alexander Campbell on the trombone, performed in the symphonic band under the direction of James Jackson from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford.

The Coventry Public School District said they are proud of how their students performed at the festival.

" Coventry High School Music Band students represented themselves, and the community, very well," the district said in a press release.
