Coventry rallies past Somers

Dec. 24—SOMERS — Nate Cordner scored 10 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter as the Coventry boys basketball team rallied for a 42- 37 North Central Connecticut Conference victory over Somers on Wednesday night at Matthew J. Hurlock Gymnasium.

Dylan Alosia added eight points for the Patriots (3-2, 2- 0 league), who trailed 30- 23 entering the fourth quarter.

Troy Maia led the Spartans (2-2, 2-2) with 20 points.

In other games ... Stonington broke away from a 28- 28 halftime tie — outscoring Lyman Memorial 19- 11 in the third quarter — in a 68-65 Eastern Connecticut Conference inter- division victory.

Jaiden Lopez and Kevin Botticello each scored 24 points for the Bulldogs (3-1).

Jordan Chandler added 11.

Luke Lowry (22 points) and Alex DePerry ( 18 points) each made three 3- pointers to lift the Bears (3-1).

Dezmen Gaston and Brody Belanger combined on 31 first-half points as Windham Tech raced out to a 54- 20 halftime lead en route to a 86- 58 Connecticut Technical Conference inter- division victory over Vinal Tech in Willimantic.

Gaston led the Mighty Tigers (3-1) with 20 points while Belanger added 15.

Dylan Desautels chipped in with five points and 11 assists, Lorenzen Tarascio had 11 points and Trey Lindsey scored seven points with 13 rebounds.

Da Key Patton scored 30 of his game- high 32 points after halftime for the Hawks (1-2).

Windham dropped a 62- 51 ECC inter- division game at Griswold.

Travis Mangual led the Whips (3-1) with 17 points while Tyler Mangual added 12.

Evan Merchant scored a game-high 18 points while Jeff Souvenance had 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Wolverines ( 4- 0).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Kaelyn Pearl had 11 points for Parish Hill, which dropped a 39- 35 Capital Region Athletic League game to Capital Prep in Hartford.

Hannah Becker finished with a season- high 10 points for the Pirates (2-3, 1- 2 league), who were outscored 8- 2 in the fourth quarter.

Ilarara Rodriguez paced the Trailblazers ( 4- 1, 4- 1) with 21 points.
