COVID-19 Boosters Now Available To Kids Aged 12-15 In RI
PROVIDENCE, RI — Younger teens in Rhode Island can now get a COVID-19 booster once they are eligible, the director of the state's Department of Health announced Wednesday. The changed policy comes after the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention changed guidelines on booster shots to include kids aged 12 to 15.
Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott announced the new policy during Wednesday's COVID-19 news conference.
Under the latest guidance, a person can get a booster shot five months after receiving their second Pfizer dose, six months after their second Moderna dose or two months after their single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Children under 12 are not eligible for booster shots.
Booster shots are available at state-run vaccination sites, pop-up clinics and retail pharmacies. Find a shot near you using the Department of Health's vaccine finder.
