COVID-19 case numbers in Wichita County rise again

New cases of COVID-19 in Wichita County nearly doubled in the past week. As of  Friday, the county had 331 cases as the virus began climbing back toward levels not seen in months. A week ago the case count was 174.

Two deaths were reported from the disease in the past week. The number of hospitalizations also increased, but remains comparatively low. Six patients were hospitalized on Friday.

Of the new cases, 272 patients were not up to date on their immunizations. The positivity rate among those tested for the virus has grown to 25 percent.

Across Texas, more than 8,000 new cases were reported and 22 people died.
