COVID-19 cases rising in Rogue Valley, state

Nov. 25—Newly diagnosed COVID-19 cases continued rising in the Rogue Valley and the state over the past week, continuing a trend in recent weeks of increasing cases, according to Oregon Health Authority data.

OHA reported 244 new COVID-19 cases in Jackson County during the past week, up from 214 cases the week before.

For Josephine County, OHA reported 112 new COVID-19 cases during the past week, an increase from 102 the week before.

No Jackson or Josephine county residents died of COVID-19-related causes during the past week, according to preliminary data from OHA. Deaths can take time to categorize as OHA receives and analyzes information from health care facilities and death certificates.

Statewide, OHA reported 3,572 new cases for the past week, up from 3,377 the week before. Seven Oregonians died of COVID-19-related causes over the past week, compared with six the previous week, according to preliminary OHA data.

Oregon hospitals were caring for 311 patients with the virus as of Wednesday, an increase from 230 the week before. Hospitals in Jackson and Josephine counties were caring for 60 patients with the virus Wednesday compared with 40 the week before, according to hospitalization data.
