COVID-19 cases in San Joaquin County continue to decline

The number of COVID-19 cases in San Joaquin County has hit a low of 14.8 cases per 100,000 people, according to Dr. Maggie Park, the county's public health officer. "This is much better than the peak of the surge from the delta variant when he had as many as 90 per 100,000," Park said. However, Park notes that the rate is still comparatively higher than in other counties, where the vaccination rate is higher. Currently, 59.7% of the county’s eligible population is fully vaccinated. Park said the goal, however, is to get to 70%. See more above.
