New COVID-19 cases trending even lower

Jun. 22—The state Department of Health recorded fewer than 200 new COVID-19 cases statewide and fewer than 25 in the region for the fourth day in a row, according to a review of state Department of Health data.

The department reported 177 new cases across Pennsylvania, including a net of 21 in the region that includes Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming counties.

The state has recorded 1,210,646 total cases, including 78,243 in Northeast Pennsylvania.

The state also recorded 34 new deaths, pushing the total to 27,604. One new death — in Lackawanna County — raised the regional total to 1,879.

By county:

Lackawanna added four cases for 18,539 total, including 2,902 probable. The new death raised the total to 481.

Luzerne added 13 cases for 32,067 total, including 2,621 probable, and remained at 823 deaths.

Monroe added three cases for 14,808 total, including 464 probable, and remained at 321 deaths.

Pike added one case for 4,033 total, including 432 probable, and remained at 54 deaths.

Susquehanna remained at 2,659 cases, including 349 probable, and 62 deaths.

Wayne's case total dropped by one to 4,141, including 442 probable. The county remained at 84 deaths.

Wyoming added one case for 1,996 total, including 356 probable, and remained at 54 deaths.
