COVID-19 hospitalizations spike in Solano County

The number of people in the hospital with COVID-19 is spiking in Solano County. The Solano County Public Health dashboard shows 147 people with COVID-19 in the hospital as of Wednesday. That is only 29 short of the record set in January at 176. It also shows 30% of ICU beds are available, along with 58% of ventilators. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services provides data on individual hospitals. At the Permanente Kaiser Vacaville Medical Center, the HHS data hub shows nearly 91% of the hospital beds are full and 93% of the hospital's ICU beds are full. At NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield, federal numbers show about 91% of beds are full there and nearly 92% of the hospital's ICU beds are full. Director of public relations, Diane Barney, said NorthBay Medical has not eclipsed its peak of COVID-19 patients that it hit in January, but it is getting close.
