COVID-19 school dashboard: MCCSC, R-BB reporting new cases

Last week, reported COVID-19 cases among K-12 students in Indiana declined, but that's likely related to schools being on Thanksgiving break.

Statewide, 1,963 new student cases were reported in the most recent update of the state’s COVID-19 school dashboard. Among teachers, 141 new cases have been reported, along with 180 new staff cases reported. Some of those cases date back to previous weeks, but most are from the last week.

While it was not mandatory last year, reporting to the state dashboard is required this year. The dashboard is updated on Mondays. As of this week's update, 414 schools were still not reporting data.

MCCSC

While all MCCSC schools are reporting data to the state, more specific data can also be found through the district's website on its COVID-19 Information and Impact Page by clicking MCCSC COVID-19 Data for 2021-2022 School Year to download the list.

Positive cases are sorted by individuals who have been in a school building, those not in a building and those involved with extracurriculars only. The numbers reported on MCCSC’s website include cases among students and staff combined, and while the state’s COVID-19 school dashboard separates cases among students, teachers and staff, schools reporting fewer than five positive cases have their data suppressed to protect privacy.

From MCCSC’s own data, from Nov. 13 through Nov. 19, the most recent data available when The Herald-Times reported this story, the district reported 22 new COVID-19 cases among students and staff who were in school buildings, or more specifically, among individuals who were present in a school building within 48 hours prior to the onset of symptoms or a positive test.

During that time period, seven new COVID-19 cases among students and staff were reported among individuals out of school buildings for the 48 hours prior to the onset of symptoms or a positive test.

Data is broken down by day on MCCSC’s chart, but here’s an overview of what the week shows:

  • Binford Elementary reported four cases in the building.

  • Childs Elementary reported one case in the building.
