COVID-19: Taylor County, Abilene ISD active cases decline this week

The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District on Thursday reported 29 new cases of COVID-19, for a weekly total of 89.

A death also was reported this week, bringing the total to 655 since the pandemic began.

Three of Thursday's new cases were based on polymerase chain reaction tests.

Active cases Thursday totaled 641 (120 PCR cases and 521 based on antigen tests), down from 854 a week ago.

State officials are releasing county and trauma service area data on Mondays only.

SCHOOLS

Abilene ISD: Reported Wednesday (last update) zero new cases, for a total of eight active cases (three student cases and five staff cases). The total number of active cases is nine fewer than reported Monday.

Wylie ISD: The district is reporting COVID-19 data directly to the health department only.
