COVID-19: Taylor County adds 120 cases Tuesday over three-day holiday weekend

The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District on Tuesday reported 120 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday, 32 of which were confirmed via polymerase chain reaction tests.

The 120 cases is based 40 new cases Tuesday and 80 on Monday, which was Labor Day holiday.

Active cases Tuesday totaled 1,054 (276 PCR cases and 778 based on antigen tests), down from 1,118 reported Friday.

The percentage of COVID-19 inpatients in the 16-county Abilene trauma service area was 2.10% Monday, compared to 2.37% Sunday and 1.93% Saturday, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services COVID-19 database.

The Abilene trauma service area Monday had 17 COVID-19 inpatients, two fewer than reported Sunday. In the previous 24 hours, there were six COVID-19 admissions in the area, according to the state database.
