COVID cases surge in Hancock County

A major surge in COVID-19 cases has been reported by the Hancock County Health Department for the week ending January 15th.

According to their latest report, 167 confirmed cases were reported, including one death from COVID related causes.

The department reported that 50, or just under 30 percent, of the cases involved vaccinated individuals.The remaining 117, or just over 70 percent of cases, were unvaccinated. As usual, here is the breakdown of this week’s cases based on age and gender.

This week’s statistics show a large increase in school age cases, now exceeding 25 percent.

The report states that 181 cases are isolated. With the one additional death reported, the pandemic death total has gone up to 42.
