After COVID delay, Peoria's USL League Two soccer team set to begin in 2022
After a two-year delay, Peoria's entry in USL League Two soccer is set to make its debut this year, the team announced Wednesday.
The Peoria City franchise was initially launched in early 2020 but was twice delayed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
USL League Two has announced its 2022 schedule. Peoria opens the season at home, scheduled to face Minneapolis City SC at Bradley’s Shea Stadium, located at 1523 W. Nebraska Ave. in Peoria. The rest of the schedule is below.

Peoria City managing partner John Dorn thanked the community for its patience, as well as the work of Peoria City general manager Tim Regan and Bradley soccer coach Jim DeRose, plus the "incredible vision" of developer Kim Blickenstaff.
For its inaugural season, Peoria City has been placed within the league's Deep North Division of the Central Conference with five other franchises: Des Moines Menace, FC Manitoba, Minneapolis City SC, St. Croix SC and Thunder Bay Chill.
