Covington suspect chased into Shelby County

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A call about a suspicious vehicle in Covington, Tennessee, turned into a multi-county pursuit Friday night.

Covington Police say a suspect in a black Chevy Tomahawk led Covington officers on a chase that stretched into Lauderdale County.

According to Covington Police, when Lauderdale County deputies joined the pursuit, the suspect tried to run one of the deputies off of the road.

Shelby County deputy hurt after being hit by teen in stolen car

Covington Police say a second pursuit began. The suspect reportedly entered Shelby County on Highway 14. Covington Police say at 7:40 p.m. officers terminated the pursuit on Highway 14 near Highway 385.

Covington Police say officers terminated the pursuit for the safety of other motorists on the road.

There is no information on the suspect’s current whereabouts. Covington Police say the suspect’s vehicle has an Arkansas license plate.
