Cowboys, clowns and horses: Clarksville Kiwanis Club's 33rd annual rodeo delivers smiles, raises money for kids

Hundreds of people turned out last weekend for the 33rd annual Clarksville Kiwanis Club rodeo event, presented by Shelby's Trio.

A PRCA ProRodeo event, competition was held in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding.

All of the event's proceeds will benefit the Kiwanis Club of Clarksville's programs for children, which include an Annual Children’s Christmas Party providing toys and gifts for kids, reading rodeo in partnership with local schools, the club's annual "Interview a Veteran" contest, Key Clubs at three local high schools and other chcharity initiatives such as Boy Scouts, Camp Rainbow, YoungLife, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Clarksville Association for Down Syndrome.

Kiwanis also provides college scholarships to local students and gives to programs sponsored by Kiwanis International.

The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville (or Downtown Kiwanis Club) was chartered as the 220th Kiwanis club on May 18, 1920.
