The Dallas Cowboys are making a move in the secondary, and no, it’s not Richard Sherman. Instead, they’re adding a piece to their practice squad by signing cornerback Holton Hill who they worked out in July, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Hill went undrafted in 2018 out of the University of Texas before signing with the Minnesota Vikings. He played in all 16 games with three starts and registered 36 tackles, an interception, and seven passes defended.
The last two seasons have been rough Hill. In 2019, he served multiple four-game suspensions for violating the NFL’s policies on performance-enhancing substances and substance abuse. Last season, he was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list before being placed on injured reserve in November with a foot injury after appearing in just four games. He was waived from injured reserve in December.
His production over that span has mirrored his rookie season with 37 tackles, four passes defended, a forced fumble, and a sack. He was signed to the Indianapolis Colts in July but was waived in August.
