As the start of school looms for most of Massachusetts, parents across the state are beginning to realize what this new school year will entail. In some cases, students will be returning in a hybrid model and for others they will be 100% online. For parents this means home is the new school room and this brings with it many challenges.

Many of the main concerns focus on a student's inability to be in an actual school setting and parent’s being unable to work from home while also trying to help support their children’s learning. Some parents are trying to alleviate this situation by working together with neighbors or friends to create learning pods or microschools. Who to hire to run the groups and where to hold them are often hurdles families have to overcome. Two local companies have found a creative solution to these problems by joining forces to present a new alternative to schooling for the larger community.

Venture X of Marlborough and Studio Ampersand Tutoring are partnering together this upcoming school year to provide a safe, clean space for students to receive strong educational support from highly qualified tutors. Venture X normally operates as a “shared workspace and community for entrepreneurs, established businesses, creatives, small businesses and Fortune 500 companies who need a professional and welcoming office space”, but has been looking for ways to provide study spaces for students who need more structured learning. Studio Ampersand is a tutoring company that has tutors throughout the Boston Metrowest that has helped provide support for students for the duration of Covid-19 and has been expanding their services to the community this fall so that they can create a strong educational framework for students. Together, these two local businesses are working on creating a safe and productive learning environment to combat Covid-19’s impact on education.

Venture X’s space offers an opportunity for students to get outside of the house a few days a week to work in a safe, quiet environment and receive high quality tutoring from Studio Ampersand. (Not to mention parents can also utilize the coworking space as a work place away from home). The tutoring program will be offered for all grades and subjects everyday during the work week and students will be able to meet in a small group setting for learning support. Students can book independently to be matched with others looking for a small group or can arrange a group on their own.
