CPD questioning person of interest after child shot on Lake Shore Drive

A 21-month-old boy is fighting for his life after he was shot in the head while traveling in a car on Lake Shore Drive Tuesday.

JESSICA D'ONFRIO: Well Tanja and Terrell, that boy was shot in the temple. He was taken here in critical condition. Doctors say it's still hard to tell how he will do in the future. Meanwhile, this morning, police continue to question a person of interest in this shooting.

Now, doctors are working to save this 21-month-old boy's life after he was shot in the head while traveling in a car on Lakeshore Drive. Chicago police say shots were first fired on Lakeshore Drive near Waldron, just after 11:00 o'clock yesterday morning and continued for two blocks. Investigators say the shooting may have started as a road rage incident.

JACOB ALDERDEN: There was a dispute possibly over somebody, you know, not letting somebody into a lane to traffic.

JESSICA D'ONFRIO: The victim's car crashed on the drive near Monroe, just as a good Samaritan was driving by. Wanting to remain anonymous, the man said he heard a woman screaming for help and didn't hesitate to get them to the hospital.

- Said they needed help. And I-- I don't think I could live with that if I-- if I decided to continue driving. I think it's what you're supposed to do.

JESSICA D'ONFRIO: Now, doctors say the baby is undergoing multiple treatments. Ans meanwhile, a community activist is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
