CPD: Scammers are demanding money while posing as Chesapeake Police Chief

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — We are On Your Side to inform you of another scam spreading across the city of Chesapeake.

The Chesapeake Police Department is warning the public of a phone scam in which scammers are claiming to be the city’s police chief. The scammer claims the victim owes money, and must pay the fine in order to avoid be arrested.

If this ever happens, the police said to hang up the phone because it’s a scam. The police will never call individuals asking for money, police said.
