Maryland crabs, crab pies and Old Bay are on the line during the Ravens’ matchup against the Chiefs on Sunday with Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore wagering some of their hometown favorites against their Democratic counterparts in Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri.

Scott, who has bet numerous times in the past on football games against his personal friend and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, has this year wagered two dozen crabs from Captain James Seafood, a can of Old Bay seasoning and a video of Scott in a Chiefs jersey. Should the Chiefs win, Scott has also agreed to light Baltimore City Hall in Chiefs red.

Moore, meanwhile, offered up crab pies from Crust By Mack against his friend, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly.

Kelly, for her part, is putting up steaks from Creekstone Farms in Arkansas City, Kansas. The Chiefs play on the Missouri side of Kansas City, but Moore has worked closely with Kelly in the Democratic Governors Association.

Lucas, accepting Scott’s wager in a television appearance on KCTV5 on Friday, said he would send Kansas City barbecue to Baltimore in the event of a Ravens win.

Both Marylanders said they’re confident they’ll end up on the winning side.

“How confident are you in your boys?” Scott asked Lucas in a video recorded at M&T Bank Stadium. “The last time you were standing right here in this suite, in this stadium with me, the Ravens defeated the Chiefs.”

Moore, in a statement, said Kelly “has an incredible record when it comes to these bets — but I think our Ravens, led by this year’s undoubted MVP Lamar Jackson, are going to break the streak this year! And, if they do, we’ll be enjoying some Creekstone Farms steaks from Kansas, courtesy of the governor!”

A former wide receiver at Johns Hopkins, Moore has attended almost all of the Ravens home games during his first season as governor. Before the Ravens win against the Texans last week, he issued an official proclamation declaring a “Purple Friday” each week until the Ravens are out of the playoffs.

“Maryland, let’s show the country what the best fans in football look like,” Moore said in a video showing him and his staff in Ravens gear at the State House.

Oddsmakers have put the line on the game, which will kick off at 3 p.m. Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium, with the Ravens by 3 1/2 and the points over/under at 44 1/2.
