'Crack Addicts:' Chiropractor-reality TV star opens medspa in Palm Beach Gardens

Following a three-episode first season run of "Crack Addicts,” a TLC docu-series that chronicled a Palm Beach Gardens chiropractor as she adjusted patients with complicated cases last year, Dr. Alessandra Colón has plenty of new things in the works.

In September, she took the ultimate bet on herself and left her steady job of seven years as a chiropractic physician at Papa Chiropractic in Palm Beach Gardens to add CEO and founder to her resume.

Colón spent the next three months looking for an office space, designing and renovating it, and hiring staff. In December, the newly minted female boss opened her own practice, Miss Chiropractic Wellness & Spa, at 4360 Northlake Blvd. in Palm Beach Gardens with business partner and investor Blake Swan.

“It’s the first and only wellness center of its kind in our area, so I’m pretty proud of that,” she said.

The 4,000-square foot office was personally designed with Colón’s feminine touch. She wants it to feel like a luxury home with an edge. By incorporating velvet and wood and pops of vibrant colors to add energy and a sense of "Hurrah," she said she wants patients to feel comfortable and relaxed during appointments.

Half the space is dedicated to several chiropractic adjusting rooms and Colón’s concierge room for high-end clients. The facility also has an X-ray room, a modality area, an IV therapy room with massage chairs, an esthetician room and a nurse-practitioner room.

In 2025, Colón hopes to expand the med spa area to include massage rooms and physical therapy.

“This facility is so different from the last because it’s multidisciplinary. This office is both med spa and chiropractic because I have these extreme cases and they’re not all chiropractic candidates,” she said. “They have migraines, and we need to talk about getting Botox. Maybe there’s a weight loss issue, so we need to get into semaglutides, so they can lose the weight (to reduce) lower back pain.”

Miss Chiropractic Wellness & Spa offers a wide range of chiropractic services including spinal exams and X-rays, spinal decompression, therapeutic ultrasound, shockwave therapy, and several soft tissue techniques — scraping, cupping and sports taping.

The med spa component, which is overseen by medical director and business partner Michael Abrahams, M.D., offers IV hydration, HydraFacials, vampire facials, chemical peels, injectables including Botox and fillers, hormone replacement therapy and medical weight loss.

Colón is also joined by chiropractic associate Dr. Elle Biegel, who she describes as “spunky” and “the blonde, blue-eyed version of me,” two nurse practitioners, an esthetician, and support staff.

Gardens chiropractor: Yes, you can be sexy and be a doctor

“Miss Chiropractic is a culture. When you walk in, everybody has to live, eat, and breath aggressive happiness," Colón said.

“Miss Chiropractic was developed because of everything that people told me I wasn’t. You can’t be sexy and be a doctor. You can’t be pretty and have brains. You can’t be young and be smart. You can’t be a female and be powerful and be strong. For me, that brand is in Miss Chiropractic, and building a brand is my dream.”

Colón is proving the naysayers wrong and admires the business savvy of Bethenny Frankel, who made a name for herself on “The Real Housewives of New York City” and “The Apprentice: Martha Stewart,” going on to become the founder & CEO of the uber-successful skinnygirl product line and a philanthropist.

The exposure Colón received from TLC, TikTok videos, and a recent “Today Show” segment about debunking chiropractic myths has launched her own career to new heights. It’s attracted patients from across the state, nation and globe vying for a chance to lie on Colón’s table. Even actor and comedian Kevin James, who happened to be booked as a guest on “Today” the same morning, picked her brain for chiropractic advice backstage.

“We were pretty much booked solid every single day for two months straight," she said. "I still have a waiting list. We started allowing the wait list patients in the door last month and they’re coming from all over the place — Arkansas, Canada, Chicago, Sarasota, (and) all over the state of Florida. It’s wild. They’ll drive three times a week to get adjusted because they believe that deeply that I’m the person for them.

“I have someone coming in next month from California. They’re extreme cases. They’re not just regular cases. I really had to up my diagnostic skills (and) game as a physician.”

In early February, Colón held her grand opening of Miss Chiropractic Wellness & Spa. The North Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce did the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

As a Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer survivor, Colón also used the grand opening as an opportunity to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by collecting donations at the door.

Although the fate of a “Crack Addicts” renewal remains unknown, Colón hints that she’ll have a major announcement coming soon and plans to expand her footprint statewide and nationwide.

She’s already travelling the country for more than 22 speaking engagements and to visit affiliate chiropractic locations in Louisville, Nashville and Atlanta with more coming soon to Lexington, Kentucky and Savannah, Georgia. Colón also plans to create a national directory of Miss Chiropractic Approved chiropractors that she has vetted and feels confident referring people to in their hometowns.

“TLC just perpetuated me in a direction that I don’t think anybody could possibly imagine,” she said.
