Craft beer, tacos and eegees: 8 new restaurants and bars now open in Gilbert

The East Valley suburb of Gilbert continues to emerge as a dining and drinking destination, with new chain and independent restaurants opening every month. Recent additions include a popular fast food chain from Tucson, a burger bar and a pasta joint.

For drinks, there's a new underground apothecary-themed bar and several new sports grills to catch a game and grab a cold one.

Here's a look at restaurants and bars that opened recently in Gilbert.

Tap Dragon

This craft beer taproom and wine bar features a wide, rotating selection of local brews, as well as mead and cider. TV screens set up around the bar ensure you can catch the game while imbibing on a strawberry rhubarb sour.

Mesquite Fresh Street Mex

Mesquite Fresh Street Mex has multiple locations in the Valley, with more on the way. Customers can order tacos, burritos, protein bowls, quesadillas and family meal kits at the drive-thru or for dine-in on the covered patio..

Restaurant by day, club by night, this Westgate party spot recently opened its third location in SanTan Village shopping center. The menu features elote dip, enchiladas with red or green sauce and taco salad, as well as mimosa and bloody mary pitchers during weekend brunch.

Blue 32 Sports Grill

This local chain of sports bars offers TVs and pub grub, like nachos and sliders. The Blue 32 dirty martini comes with olives stuffed with blue cheese.

Eegee's

The Tucson cult favorite returned to Phoenix in July 2021 and is going through a Valley-wide expansion. The fast-food restaurant is known for its frozen fruit drinks called eegees, submarine sandwiches and ranch fries.

Twisted Chef Cantina

Paul Fan replaced his pan-Asian concept with Twisted Chef Cantina, a sports-oriented restaurant serving burgers, pasta, sandwiches and bar food. Set up with indoor and outdoor seating to watch baseball and football games on multiple screens.
