Crafts, author visits, Nerf Night, adult book discussions at Holmes library in August

Here is a list of programs planned for August at the Holmes County District Public Library:

August Craft Kit for Teens, Central Library and East Branch. Pick up a themed kit to create a back-to-school positivity pouch.

Inspirational and Amish romance author visit: Central Library. Book discussions with book purchases available.

  • Amber Renee Williams and Serena Miller, 2:30-4:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 10

  • Molly Jebber, Willard Carpenter and Sarah Price, 10:30 a.m.-noon, Friday, Aug. 11

  • Jennifer Spredemann and Shelley Shepard Gray, 10:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug.12

Paws to Read, 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 12, Central Library; kids are invited to read to a certified therapy dog from Caring Therapy Canines.

Kids Nerf Night, 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, Central Library. School-age kids will play Nerf games, with blasters and darts provided, and enter a drawing to win a Nerf Blaster. Registration and permission slips are required.

Lunchtime Lowdown, 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15 Central Library. Join Kate Shumaker, OSU Extension Services Educator, as she presents options to pack safe, healthy and delicious lunches that are cost and content controlled. Registration is required.

STEAMKids Club, 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, Central Library. School-age kids will work in teams to engineer a rollercoaster. Registration is required.

Book Discussion for Adults - Books are available to borrow at the Central Library.

  • Discussing “Horse” by Geraldine Brooks, 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29 at the Central Library.

  • Discussing “Hello Sunshine” by Laura Dave, 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29 at Jitters Coffee House.
