Crash causes rental home, vehicles to catch fire in North Myrtle Beach

A fiery crash left two people hospitalized after flames spread to a nearby house and five vehicles in North Myrtle Beach, officials said Sunday.

North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue responded to the crash about 4:30 a.m. in the area of 1900 North Ocean Boulevard, according to the agency’s Facebook post.

The department did not provide any details on what led to the crash.

Passengers had already escaped the burning vehicle once crews arrived, and they immediately received medical treatment. Two of them were sent to the emergency room, the post said.

The burning rental home and houses on either side were evacuated without their occupants sustaining injuries.

The house has fire damage on the outside, and some windows shattered. Fire crews ventilated any smoke that made it inside.

Besides the five vehicles that were damaged, three golf carts also caught on fire.

Santee Cooper workers were on scene due to a damaged transformer spilling mineral oil, which caused several homes to lose power.
