Crash on I-25 near Windsor stops traffic for an hour; separate RV fire sends up smoke

Poudre Fire Authority had a busy afternoon Friday with a crash on Interstate 25 and an RV on fire in northwest Fort Collins.

I-25 crash puts traffic at standstill for over an hour

Traffic was at a standstill for around an hour on southbound Interstate 25 due to a crash near the Windsor exit on Friday afternoon.

Radio communications indicated Poudre Fire Authority responded to a crash around 3:04 p.m. Friday just north of the interstate's exit to Colorado Highway 392.

Drivers in the southbound lanes reported to the Coloradoan after 4 p.m. that they had not moved in an hour or more.

But within minutes of those reports, the roadway was clearing, according to a driver. PulsePoint marked the scene cleared at 4:30 p.m.

Google maps showed traffic had been stopped or slowed in both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-25 on either side of the reported crash site.

RV fire is extinguished

PFA then responded to a report of an RV on fire on Sycamore Street, near Vine Drive between Shields Street and Taft Hill Road in Fort Collins, about 4:20 p.m.

The reporting party said there were flames coming from the front of the vehicle, which was close to a chicken coop, according to a tweet from PFA.

The fire was extinguished, and no injuries have been reported, PFA said.
