Crash involving HRT bus, semitrailer sends 3 passengers to hospital
A Hampton Roads Transit bus carrying passengers was involved in a crash with a semitrailer on Thursday, sending some to the hospital.
According to Newport News police, officers responded to a crash at the intersection of 39th Street and Roanoke Avenue at about 11:51 a.m.
Multiple people were assessed for injuries at the scene, and three adult bus passengers were sent to the hospital. Sarah Ketchum, a spokesperson for the police department, said injuries for passengers sent to the hospital are not believed to be life-threatening.
The intersection was closed Thursday afternoon and the investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing.
