Need a crash report? State RMV online option shutting down while system undergoes replacement

BOSTON — The “Request a Crash Report” feature on the state Registry of Motor Vehicles’ website will be unavailable between 5 p.m. Sunday to approximately 9 a.m. Feb. 21, due to a system replacement, according to the RMV.

During this period, customers who are in urgent need of a copy of a crash report, should contact the local or state law enforcement agency where their crash occurred.

The updated “Crash Data System” replacement is being done to optimize the acceptance, maintenance and accessibility of Massachusetts crash reports.

Starting at 5 p.m. Sunday, customers trying to access crash reports online will see a message display stating the transaction is unavailable due to a system replacement, and to visit the site again Feb. 21.

“Request a Crash Report” is the only RMV transaction unavailable during this system replacement.
