Ravenna man dies in crash on State Route 5 in Paris Township Wednesday morning

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said it is investigating after a Ravenna man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 5 in Paris Township Wednesday morning.

The highway patrol said Gregory M. Dean, 66, was westbound driving a 2014 Ford F-250 when the pickup truck crashed into the rear of a 2018 Chevrolet 2500, which was stopped to make a left turn.

When emergency services arrived, Dean was unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the scene. EMS took the driver of the Chevrolet, a 43-year-old Indiana man, to University Hospitals Portage Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The highway patrol said Dean was not wearing a seat belt and the Indiana man was wearing one at the time of the crash.

The road was closed for about an hour.

Paris, Palmyra and Newton Falls EMS and the Portage County Coroner's Office also responded to the scene.
