Crater High classes canceled due to building problem that 'requires immediate action'

Sep. 21—Engineers discovered a structural deficiency at the Crater High School campus Tuesday night that requires immediate attention, forcing Central Point School District 6 to cancel Wednesday classes at the high school, according to Superintendent Walt Davenport.

Davenport did not specify what caused the problem in a note on the front page of the district website, but he said, "This discovery requires immediate action."

The issue affects classrooms located in the old gym both upstairs and downstairs. "Out of an abundance of caution, all high school classes will be canceled (Wednesday) as we continue to assess the situation," Davenport wrote.

District and school administration are working on a plan to continue instruction. Expect more information through ParentSquare, social media and the school district website as it becomes available, the district said.
