Craven County Animal Protective Services seeks information for the person responsible for dumping a litter of newborn Pitbull puppies.

The Sun Journal reached out to Craven Animal Protective Services and Maj. David McFadyen on Wednesday regarding the matter, but did not receive a response by deadline.

APS made a post on their Facebook page on Tuesday referring to the incident and their hopes of finding information on the person responsible for the act.

The puppies appeared to have been thrown from a vehicle on SW Craven Middle School Road in New Bern, according to an APS Facebook post.

APS attempted to save the Pitbull's but were unsuccessful. The department believes the puppies were still alive when they were abandoned.

"We know it’s a long shot, but if you have any information on who could have committed such a disgusting act, please contact our office," read the Facebook post.
