Major spoilers for season 3 of Stranger Things below!

Stranger Things fans are still freaking out over the crazy ending that left many more questions than answers. Whether they are still hoping to figure out more about where their favorite characters are and what is going to happen next for the ones that were left behind in Hawkins, everyone is coming up with some pretty interesting theories over what will happen next in season four.

Of course, this will all depend on whether or not we'll see some of our favorite characters again and if they even survived the insane season 3 finale. Not everyone made it out of the Battle of Starcourt, but that doesn't mean everything is over, especially thanks to the post-credit scene that basically proves there is more to come if it does return for another season.

Here are all the theories about Stranger Things season 4...

Hopper is still alive.

While it seems like Hopper might have died at the end of the Battle of Starcourt, a big theory explains why he disappeared when Joyce closed the gate. Hopper wasn't seen after Joyce turned the keys, so there's a chance that he actually jumped through the portal and is currently stuck in the Upside Down. Since season four still hasn't been confirmed yet, there's no word on whether David Harbour is returning or not, so there's still hope that Hopper is still around.

The American Prisoner is someone we know.

The big post-credit scene left fans shocked after it was revealed that the Russians had an American prisoner back at their main base. While they weren't seen, fans are guessing that it's either Hopper or Dr. Brenner, who hasn't been seen since season 2. Fans believe that he's the reason why the Russians know so much about the Upside Down and have been able to recreate the gate.

Since the Russians seem to have a second gate, there's a good chance that they "rescued" Hopper out of there and are now keeping him prisoner, giving another theory as to how he could still be alive.

Murray and Joyce will be partnering up.

Fans were excited to see that Murray's phone number actually worked after Hopper gave it away on the show. The special number goes straight to Murray's voicemail where he has a special message for Joyce about something he's working on. There's a good chance that Murray and Joyce are working together to try to figure out where Hopper is or about what the Russians are up to. Either way, they'll both definitely be back for season 4, if the show returns.

The Demogorgon will come back to wreck havoc in Hawkins.

The Mind Flayer may be gone, but the Demogorgon seems to be back and hungry for more. While it was last seen in Russia, thanks to its special portal opening powers, there's a good chance it might make a big return to Hawkins in season 4 and gets some revenge.

The Byers and El moved to someplace familiar.

Joyce, Johnathan, Will, and El all moved away at the end of the season, but their new home wasn't officially revealed. Fans believe that they went to either Illinois, where Murray currently lives, or to Maine, where Bob wanted to with Joyce in season 2.

El may or may not get her powers back.

Fans were shocked to see that El's powers were gone after the Battle of Starcourt. While she tried to see if she got them back at the end of the season, it looks like their gone, at least for now. There's a chance that El might train herself to get them back or Dr. Brenner's possible return will help her. Either way, it would be pretty shocking if she didn't get them back, but it would certainly be interesting to see El trying to live a normal life without them.
