The You Creators Are Making Another TV Thriller Based on a Caroline Kepnes Novel

If you’re going through You withdrawals while the third season is in production, we have some good news. The hit Netflix TV series, which is based on the book series of the same name by Caroline Kepnes, is so popular that another one of the author’s novels is being made into a series. You showrunner Sera Gamble is pairing with screenwriter Neil Reynolds again to turn the novel Providence into a Peacock original, Deadline reports.

The plot for this new TV show sounds even juicer than You (if that is even possible). The story follows a man named Jon Bronson who disappeared, along with five other classmates, when he was 12. He mysteriously reappears at 22 with no memory of what happened during the 10 years he was missing. There’s also a love story aspect because his childhood crush, Chloe Sayers, always believed he was alive and has a desire to reconnect with Jon. The only problem? He developed supernatural abilities to prevent him from getting physically close to Chloe.

It definitely has similarities to You. Both stories both have romance, intrigue, and plenty of mystery. Providence also has a supernatural element that seems a tad Riverdale-esque. We’re definitely excited, and it adds another competitive title to Peacock’s catalog.

“I’m thrilled to team up with Sera, Neil, and Greg once again and bring to life another adaptation of Caroline Kepnes]s gripping novels, this time with supernatural thriller and mysterious love story, Providence,” NBCUniversal’s chairman of entertainment content, Susan Rovner, said in a statement, according to EW. “On the drama development side, we are ramping up cross-genre series that have wide appeal, and Providence is a shining example of the types of shows we’re looking to bring to Peacock.”

The release date has yet to be announced, but we’ll keep you posted.
