Creston baseball trying to stop the slide

May 26—RED OAK — The Tigers' pitcher Dawson Bond allowed no runs by the Panthers (4-4) Thursday in Red Oak as Creston fell 1-0 in their fourth straight loss and second one-run loss.

The 2022 first team all-conference pitcher had 70 strikes in 110 pitches to keep the Panthers at bay.

Creston senior Kyle Strider got the Panthers started with a hit followed by a steal to second and third, but was followed with three outs to end the first inning.

Panther pitcher Cael Turner had 47 strikes on 69 pitches, allowing only the one run.

Red Oak (3-0) had five errors to Creston's one to keep the score tight as the Tigers found their run in the fourth with Bond.

The Panthers had a chance for comeback in the final inning as Dylan Hoepker found his way on base. Through a stolen base and an error by Red Oak, Hoepker made it to third base, needing just one hit to tie the game and stay alive.

Three sequential strikeouts sealed the victory for Red Oak, continuing the Panthers' slide from a 4-0 start.

Creston will try to bounce back Tuesday in Harlan against the 0-5 Cyclones.
