Creswell elected new Roane County executive

Wade Creswell has won the race for Roane County executive.

He won with 4,472 votes and will replace Ron Woody who did not seek re-election.

In last Thursday's Roane County General Election, Wayne Best received 3,392 votes for county executive, Victoria Bowers-Gaskin received 894 and Ellison Beard received 622. Write-ins received 18 votes. These unofficial totals are posted in a document on the Roane County Election Commission website. All of them ran as independents, as did all candidates on the Roane County ballot apart from the primary.

For chancellor, Tom McFarland won with 5,089 votes while Frank Williams got 4,244 votes. Write-ins received 22 votes.

Criminal Court Judge Jeff Wicks, District Attorney General for District 9 Russell Johnson, Circuit Court Judge Mike Pemberton and Public Devender Kim Nelson all won, running unopposed.

For County Commission District 1, voters could choose three candidates for the three seats. Chris Lehman received 1,053 votes, Ronald Berry received 1,049 votes and Randy Kirby received 715, making them the winners. Brian Taylor received 675 votes, Temper Evans received 556 and write-ins received 20.

For County Commission District 2, voters could choose three candidates for the three seats. Greg Ferguson received 742 votes, Brad Goss received 739 and Junior Hendrickson received 701, making them the winners. Chris Ahler received 695 votes,  Tami Hamby-Ladd received 697, Randy Ellis received 586, Mike Kittrell received 387, Tony Beyer received 167 and Gregory L. Buckles received 144. Write-ins received 11 votes.

For County Commission District 3, voters could only choose one candidate. Ben Gann won the race, receiving 282 votes. Cynthia Plemens received 193. Ben Briley received 129 votes and write-ins received two.

For County Commission District 4, voters could choose two candidates for two seats. Charlotte Bowers Cunningham received 549 votes and challenger Lance Duff received 556 votes, making theem the commissioners for the district. Jerry W. White received 537 votes. James W. Brummett received 337 votes. Write-ins received eight.

For County Commission District 5. Mike Hooks won the one seat with 301 votes. Marilyn Calfee received 191 votes. There was one write-in.

For County Commission District 6, voters could choose three candidates for three seats. The winners were David Brackett with 1,537 votes, David Bell with 1,408 and Ben Wilson with 1,386. Larry Woods received 672 votes. Ron Gregory received 652. Write-ins received 26 votes.

For County Commission District 7, voters could choose two candidates for two seats. Travis Parks won one of the seats with 843 votes. Shannon Hester won the other seat with 805 votes. Lucinda J. Sheth received 243. Tina Crownover received 246. Write-ins received nine.

For county trustee, Chris Mason won running unopposed, as did Terry Stevens for General Sessions judge Part 1, Dennis Humphrey for General Sessions judge Part 2, Jack L. Stockton for sheriff, Ann Goldston for Circuit Court clerk, Beth Gage Johnson for county clerk, Greg Leffew for county attorney and Larry D. Brackett for School Board District 1.

For Register of Deeds, Sharon Brackett won with 7,063 votes. Mike Elmore received 1,663 votes. Write-ins got 18 votes.

For School Board District 3/4, voters could vote for two candidates. Larry Sam Cox received 823 votes and Jessica Lancaster Hunsaker received 772, making them the winners. Ashlee Johnson Korte and Mike Taylor both received 658 votes. Write-ins received 11.

For Harriman City Council, voters could choose three candidates. Alicia Harris received 424 votes, Travis J. Kirkland II received 370, Johnny "Knobby" Brackett received 355 and Lonnie H. Wright received 342, making them the winners. Bruce Knobloch received 308. Joshua Dale Gillespie received 209. Sam Russell received 293.  Write-ins received 14.

For Oliver Springs city judge, Joseph H. Van Hook won running unopposed, as did the city's Court Clerk and Finance Officer Ramona Walker.

Primaries

Gov. Bill Lee received 7,029 votes in Roane County, with write-ins in the Republican primary race getting 199 votes.

In the Democratic Primary for governor, Jason Brantley Martin received 687 votes, winning the county as he did with the state. J. Carnita Faye Atwater received 469 votes. J.B. Smiley Jr. received 334 votes. Write-ins received eight votes.

Incumbent Chuck Fleischmann won in Roane County with 5,821 votes, for U.S. House of Representatives' Third District seat, as well as winning the Republican Primary nomination for his district. Sandy Casey received 1,631 votes. Write-ins for this Republican Primary race got 19 votes.

Fleischmann will face off against Meg Gorman, who won the Democratic Primary in Roane County unopposed, winning 1,384 votes with only five Roane County voters voting for write-in candidates. She was unopposed in that primary race.

In the Republican Primary race for Tennessee House District 32, Monty Fritts won in Roane County with 2,312 votes. He won the primary, as well. Teresa Pesterfield Kirkham received 1,810. Keaton Bowman received 1,490 votes. Donnie Hall received 1,099. Randy Childs received 627. Write-ins got eight votes.

On the Democratic side, Jan Hahn won the nomination for House District 32 running unopposed and receiving 1,316 votes in Roane County. Eleven votes went to write-ins.

For Tennessee House of Representatives District 41, Ed Butler received 183 votes. Michael C. Swisher received 133 votes. Bradley Hayes received 71 votes. One vote went to a write-in. Butler won the nomination across the district.
