Crews battle fire at McDonald's in Nashua

May 23—A McDonald's restaurant on Northeastern Boulevard in Nashua is closed after a fire broke out in oil frying equipment Monday.

Around 8:52 a.m. Monday, Nashua Fire Rescue dispatch received a call reporting an alarm at a McDonald's restaurant at 3 Northeastern Boulevard. As crews were dispatched, a 911 call came in reporting a fire in the restaurant's kitchen area.

Engine 6 from the Conant Road Fire Station arrived on scene and reported smoke venting from the roof, later determined to be the kitchen exhaust hood. A working fire was called and crews from Engine 6 entered the restaurant to find a partially extinguished fire in the oil frying equipment.

The fire was extinguished with a portable fire extinguisher.

Fire companies worked for approximately 30 minutes to disassemble the ventilation system above the fire area to confirm there was no extension to the building structure.

The structure was not damaged.

The fire is under investigation by the Nashua Fire Rescue Fire Marshal's Office.

The building was open and operating at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

"It is unknown how long before they will be able to reopen," Nashua Deputy Fire Chief James Kirk said in a statement.
