Crews continue search for third day to find missing boater in North Myrtle Beach

The search for a missing boater in North Myrtle Beach continued for a third day over the weekend.

Friends and family on Facebook have identified the missing boater as 23-year-old Tyler Doyle. The Loris man has been missing since Thursday after his boat reportedly began taking on water and sinking.

The only other person on the jon boat was rescued from the north jetties, which links the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean.

Boat crews were out conducting sonar scans Saturday, according to a Facebook post by the North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad Water Rescue Team.

“Your local and state resources are not giving up the search,” the post states.

Crews with the U.S. Coast Guard suspended their search Friday after about 45 hours and more than 694 miles covered.

The 23-year-old man was last seen wearing a camo jacket and khaki pants while duck hunting on a 16-foot jon boat, according to the Coast Guard.

A jon boat is a small, open, flat-bottomed boat used primarily in shallow marshy areas.

The post also mentioned that resources from the state’s Department of Natural Resources, Horry County Fire Rescue and Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office helped conduct the scans.
