Work crews continue to battle summer heat as they install a sewer line along one stretch of Bear Valley Road in Apple Valley.

The sewer line is being installed by the developer of a new gas station located on the southwest corner of Deep Creek and Bear Valley roads, Town of Apple Valley spokeswoman Sarah Krieg told the Daily Press.

The sewer line is being extended east, from where it currently ends on the north side of Bear Valley Road by Sonic Burger to Deep Creek Road. Once crews reach Deep Creek Road, they will trench as they install the sewer line south across Bear Valley to reach the yet-to-be-named gas station.

“This new project will help extend much needed infrastructure along Bear Valley Road for future development opportunities,” Krieg said.

An Alcoholic Beverage Control sellers application at the gas station construction site lists Uncle Albert’s Mart, Inc. at 20091 Bear Valley Road. Nizar Hourany of DUKES SVL LLC is the listed owner of the property, according to the San Bernardino County Assessor’s Office and the California Secretary of State.

A recently installed for-sale sign along the pipe route lists Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate Solutions.

Gas station brand

In January, heavy equipment operators started work on the gas station property, approved by the town for a fuel station and convenience store.

Regarding the gas station’s brand, in a previous interview, Apple Valley Councilman Art Bishop said many developers “pursue a brand” for a certain project during the planning and construction process.

The gas station project is located across from the site of the Original Apple Valley School Site on the southeast corner of Bear Valley and Deep Creek roads.

Only small portions of walls remain at the former school site, which began hosting classes in 1913.
