Crews respond to structure fire at the Silver Dollar City amusement and theme park

A spokesperson for Silver Dollar City confirmed there was a fire Thursday at the amusement and theme park near Branson that resulted in three buildings being damaged.

According to Silver Dollar City, the fire started at about 12:45 p.m. — 15 minutes before the theme park was scheduled to open for the day — and impacted the Heartland Home Furnishings shop down to Flossie’s Fried Fancies in the lower western portion of the park.

The Southern Stone County Fire Protection District responded to the scene and had the fire contained within an hour.

No one was injured in the fire, but the theme park closed down for the day as a result.

Silver Dollar City reported that the front entrance area of the park was open at the time of the fire, but the majority of the park was still closed to guests.

As of Thursday afternoon, no determination had been made as to the exact cause of the fire — which sent a large cloud of smoke into the air that could be seen from miles away.

Officials say Silver Dollar City will reopen on Friday at 1 p.m. as scheduled.

"We thank you for your understanding," Silver Dollar City said in a statement posted to its social media accounts.

Located in Stone County, Silver Dollar City is an 1880s-theme park that is home to roller coasters, shops and unique dining options. Its popular Olde Time Christmas attraction began Nov. 6 and runs through Dec. 30.
