Melbourne police, ATF investigating burglary at local gun shop

The Melbourne Police Department and agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives are investigating after an early-morning burglary at a local guns hop.

Investigators haven’t disclosed exactly how many were taken but say multiple guns were grabbed from Sicario’s Gun Shop on North Wickham Rd. early Wednesday morning.

The business owner was working closely with investigators Wednesday to try to identify and locate the person responsible for the brazen theft.

According to the Melbourne Police Department, officers arrived on the sane to find the back door to the business forcibly opened.

Once inside, they say the suspect smashed several display cases and stole a number of firearms.

Investigators say the suspect, who was covered with a hoodie, was captured by surveillance cameras, but they’re not in a position to release any additional information on the case.

The ATF is involved in the case because it regulates businesses like Sicario’s.

Debris was seen inside and outside of the business as police conducted their investigation.

The suspect was seen leaving the area in a vehicle described as dark colored Honda with a tag that was reported stolen out of Central Florida.
